Overview

Bayswater District in the Victorian Legislative Assembly was formed prior to the 1992 election following the redistribution of the Knox electorate. It has been represented by Heidi since November 2006 election.

The District is in eastern metropolitan Melbourne, approximately 23 kilometres east of the CBD. At about 32 Square kilometres in size, it encompasses the suburbs of Bayswater and Heathmont and includes parts of Boronia, Knoxfield, Ringwood, Ringwood East, Vermont, Wantirna and Wantirna South. The District boundaries include the railway and Canterbury Road in the north, Scoresby Road and Dorset Road for parts of the east, Burwood Highway in the south and Heatherdale Road and Dandenong Creek in the west.

Things Heidi Loves About Bayswater

I love the fact that we have quick access to the Dandenongs, yet we are not far from the CBD. We have a fanstastic sense of community, which includes brilliant programs for sports and arts fans of all ages.

Bayswater Park (sometimes called Train Park), is a fantastic place for kids to play - I take my daughter there all the time, and we love walking and riding along the Dandenong Creek trail.

The convenience of shopping in our area is another 'plus' and is perfect for those hunting for a bargain and getting great service - and there are so many options! From Knox City and Eastland, to Heathmont, Bayswater, Boronia, Studfield and all the other strip shopping areas where the customer is paramount.

Bayswater is a great example of how multiculturalism works - so many of us have such different backgrounds, but we all get along and live in harmony. From German play groups for toddlers to Hungarian, Greek and Italian senior citizen organisations - there's something for everyone! We also have some really incredible schools, and our children are in excellent hands - I have complete faith in the leaders of tomorrow that are being groomed right here in the Bayswater area.
